        Half Cut Film Festival

        Picture
A major part of the On The Rocks Festival, Half Cut showcases the best in Scottish Student Film.

        While there are plenty of
great (and not so great) films being made by students all over Scotland, we still lack a widely recognised forum to showcase them to the public. Half Cut aims to legitimise student film, and give professionals the chance to see up-and-coming talent. The submission deadline for Half Cut 2011 is Monday 11th of April - details of where to send your entries will be posted soon.

Half Cut 2011 Awards Evening will be held on Wednesday 20th April at the New Picture House Cinema in St Andrews. Everyone is welcome to join us for a night of the best student films Scotland has to offer.

The People's Choice Evening will be held on
Monday 18th April, where students will have the opportunity to watch and vote for their two favourites from a selection of films that were not nominated for the Awards Evening, The lucky winners will be added to the screening list for Wednesday's event and will have a chance to compete for the top prizes! Last year's 'Best Film' winner was one of the favourites from People's Choice, so it's definitely worth coming along and supporting your friends efforts! Entry to the event is free if you purchase a Half Cut Awards Evening ticket, but those who turn up on the door will be charged.

The Industry Talk and Q&A session will be held on
Tuesday 19th April in the evening, where students will have a chance to hear from two leading Pixar animators, Jaime Landes and Lindsay VanderGalien as well as be part of a privileged few who get to see sneak peaks of upcoming productions! You will also hear from Robert Sproul-Cran, a BAFTA-winner and previous judge, who has been part of the film industry for over 30 years. Tickets for this event are £3 and are available through the On The Rocks online ticket office.

Half Cut in recent years has seen gritty drama, musicals in miniature, ninjas on swings, claymation and full lobster costumes. 2011 will be no exception, so come join us for our Awards Evening at the
        NPH Cinema for a star-spangled, red-carpeted evening.
